There Would Be No Akpabio Without the Ibibio Nation
We note Senator Akpabio’s recent attack on his successor, Udom Emmanuel. His criticism was predictable from a man known for trivial outbursts. In 2007, Ibibio leaders secured his PDP governorship ticket. Obong Victor Attah appointed him commissioner for six years. Prominent sons like Ufot Ekaete, Nsima Ekere and John James Akpanudoedehe funded and managed his campaign. Despite our support, over 300 Ibibio leaders were reportedly killed during his administration. His time as governor brought violence, yet he has given back nothing substantial. His Senate Presidency has failed to benefit the Ibibio, while only his favoured allies have profited. Now Governor Umo Eno champions unity with Akpabio. We warn that this partnership risks repeating past harms. Ibibio Vanguard remains determined to expose any threat to our community.
