House of Reps Summons Security Chiefs and Ministers Over Surge in Insecurity
The House of Representatives has passed a resolution to summon key security and finance officials to explain how funds have been used in the fight against crime. Invited to appear before a plenary session are the Minister of Defence, service chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, the DSS Director-General, the Finance Minister and the head of the National Intelligence Agency. Lawmakers say they need a full account of budget releases and operations over the past six months. The motion was sponsored by Hon. Sulaiman Gumi amid mounting attacks by bandits, terrorists and other criminal groups. Members stressed the need for detailed briefings on current security challenges and called for stronger coordination to protect lives and property nationwide.
