Are Opponents Exploiting Oyo Kidnapping for Political Gain?
Good evening everyone. I’ve noticed some people celebrating the recent kidnapping in Oyo State. They ask “Who did they vote?” or say “We told them.” It feels like this insecurity is being orchestrated to damage the incumbent. Many social media influencers who failed in 2023 have shifted to the Oyo kidnapping story. They loudly condemn insecurity here, yet remain silent about the 1,800 people killed elsewhere in recent months. Some have even made a faded celebrity their spokesperson, despite the celebrity avoiding his own village because of insecurity. If they cared so much, they’d channel that energy into protecting their own communities. Now they claim their “overnight messiah” solution would stop crime. But Nigerians won’t vote for a sudden saviour we once cursed as governor. Are Oyo lives more valuable than the 1,800 lives lost elsewhere?
