Iheanacho Eyes Contract Extension After Impressive Celtic Debut
Kelechi Iheanacho joined Celtic on a free transfer from Sevilla last summer and signed a one-year deal with an option to extend for another season. Despite recurring hamstring problems, he scored nine goals in 24 appearances across all competitions. The Nigeria international says he hopes to still be a Celtic player when next season begins, leaving the decision in the club’s hands. He made a late impact by coming off the bench to seal a 3-1 Scottish Cup final win at Hampden Park. Iheanacho described winning his first Scottish Cup as a proud moment for the team and the fans. “This has been a great season,” he added, recalling back-to-back trophies in his first 10 months in Glasgow.
