Peter Obi Slams Political Focus on 2027 While Abducted Schoolchildren Remain in Captivity
Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has warned that political leaders are prioritising the 2027 campaign over citizens’ safety. He highlighted the ongoing captivity of schoolchildren seized in Borno and Oyo states two weeks ago. Obi noted that media announcements about rescue teams have done little to secure their release. He cited recent deadly raids in Plateau, Kogi and Anambra states, and the abduction of over 80 pupils and teachers across three schools in Oyo, and dozens more in Borno by insurgents. Obi stressed that such attacks on schools and communities are a grave concern in a country not officially at war and called for immediate action to protect Nigerians.
