ICC Suspends Prosecutor Karim Khan Amid Sexual Misconduct Probe
The International Criminal Court has suspended its chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, pending a vote by member states. The court’s executive bureau concluded he committed serious misconduct after an 18-month inquiry. Investigators examined allegations that Khan had non-consensual sexual interactions with a lawyer in his office. A UN report found a factual basis for the claims, but three judges later said the evidence did not establish misconduct beyond reasonable doubt. Khan denies any wrongdoing, calling the decision unlawful and unsupported by evidence. He has been on leave since last May. ICC member states will decide his fate at a special Assembly session.
