Bisi Yusuf and Ayuba Threaten APC Defection as ADC, NDC Talks Intensify
Political realignments are gathering momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections. Former Lagos Assembly member Bisi Yusuf and Rep. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba are exploring alternatives to the APC. Sources say that if Ayuba fails to secure the APC ticket for Alimosho Federal Constituency, both politicians may defect to either the African Democratic Congress or the National Democratic Congress. Insider reports reveal at least three closed-door meetings with ADC and NDC leaders in Alimosho this week. The camp believes Ayuba’s strong grassroots support and backing from traditional rulers could boost his electoral chances on another platform, with a strategy to return to the APC if he wins. Ayuba insists that President Tinubu’s victory is assured regardless of his personal campaign involvement. Meanwhile, many local stakeholders have thrown their weight behind Princess Olabisi Adebajo as the APC candidate. Questions have also been raised about the alliance between the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu and the President’s SDG aide after reports that a state commissioner was allegedly assaulted during the primaries. ADC and NDC spokespeople have so far declined to comment.
