Russian Strikes Kill Three in Kharkiv as Zelenskiy Sees Progress in US Talks
Russian drone and missile attacks in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region killed three people, including a 22-year-old pregnant woman, and injured several others. Residential buildings, garages and shops were damaged in both Kharkiv city and the town of Chuhuiv. In annexed Crimea, local authorities said air defences repelled a separate drone assault targeting Black Sea Fleet facilities. Both sides have stepped up aerial strikes in recent weeks, with Ukraine hitting Russian oil infrastructure and Moscow responding with intensified bombardment. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported a positive call with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. He welcomed their interest in brokering peace talks. Zelenskiy had earlier invited direct negotiations with President Putin, a proposal the Kremlin swiftly rejected.
