Over 200 Nigerian Workers Trapped in Kuwait Deportation Camp After Salary Dispute
More than 200 Nigerian workers are held in a Kuwait deportation facility following a wage dispute and alleged labour exploitation by a local company. Detainees say they have spent four to six months in detention without formal charges or repatriation. Many report severe depression and other mental health challenges. Relatives allege the employer promised salaries equivalent to around N2.5 million but paid as little as N750,000. They also claim passports and ATM cards were seized after the dispute was reported to local authorities. Despite appeals to the Nigerian embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, families say there has been little action. They are now calling on the government to intervene and secure the release or safe return of those affected.
