Since Being Broke Is a Sin: A Prayer for Provision
They say “being broke is a sin,” and I hear it echo in Balogun Market. Traders call out in Yoruba and Hausa, counting naira faster than they pray. But Allah is Ar-Razzaq, the Sleepless Provider. His rizq does not favour only the rich in Lekki penthouses or Abuja mansions. I rise before Fajr in Kano’s cold. I make wudu with water that feels like ice and whisper, “Yaa Fattah, open my doors.” Striving is worship; patience is my armour. I hustle the halal way—riding okada in Lagos rain and grilling suya under Kaduna’s stars. If wealth comes, I will give zakat and feed the almajiri. If it delays, I will not forsake trust or choose wrong. A sin is disobedience, not an empty pocket. A person is never poor when their dua is rich. May Allah make me rich in gratitude and halal provision, to build for Ummah and land.
