User Agreement

This User Agreement ("Agreement") is a legally binding contract between you ("you" or "User") and NaijaWorld ("NaijaWorld," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the NaijaWorld website and mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this Agreement carefully before using the Service.

1. Acknowledgment

This Agreement is between you and NaijaWorld only. Apple Inc. and Google LLC are not parties to this Agreement and have no obligation to provide any maintenance, support, warranty, or other liability with respect to the Service. By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement.

2. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with this Agreement, NaijaWorld grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the Service on devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

3. Scope of Licence

This licence applies to one individual user. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the Service or any part of it
  • Reverse-engineer, disassemble, or decompile the Service
  • Sublicence, sell, rent, lease, or transfer the Service or your rights under this Agreement
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks on the Service
  • Use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair it

4. Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 13 years of age. If we discover that an account belongs to a user under 13, we will delete that account without notice.

5. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account. NaijaWorld reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this Agreement, without prior notice and at our sole discretion.

6. Content

You retain ownership of the content you post on the Service. By posting content, you grant NaijaWorld a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable licence to use, display, reproduce, distribute, and adapt that content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service. You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this licence and that your content does not infringe any third-party rights.

7. Prohibited Uses

Your use of the Service is subject to our Community Conduct guidelines, which are incorporated into this Agreement by reference. In addition, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its related systems
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or other tools to access or scrape the Service without our written consent
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service

8. Maintenance and Support

NaijaWorld — not Apple, not Google — is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the Service. If you have any support questions or technical issues, please contact us. Apple and Google have no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the Service.

9. Warranty Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NAIJAWORLD DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES WITH RESPECT TO THE SERVICE. NAIJAWORLD DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

In the event of any failure of the Service to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple or Google, and Apple or Google may refund the purchase price for the Service (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple and Google have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the Service.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NAIJAWORLD WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF NAIJAWORLD HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. NAIJAWORLD'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING UNDER OR RELATED TO THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO NAIJAWORLD IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR ₦5,000.

11. Termination

NaijaWorld may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice. You may terminate this Agreement at any time by deleting your account and ceasing all use of the Service. Upon termination, all licences granted to you under this Agreement will immediately cease.

12. Apple as Third-Party Beneficiary

You acknowledge and agree that Apple Inc. is a third-party beneficiary of this Agreement with respect to your use of the Service on any Apple-branded device, and that, upon your acceptance of this Agreement, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce this Agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance, support, warranty, or indemnification with respect to the Service.

13. Google Play

If you downloaded the Service from the Google Play Store, Google LLC and its subsidiaries are not parties to this Agreement and have no obligation or liability to you under this Agreement. The Service is licensed to you, not sold, by NaijaWorld.
