Dangote Refinery Exports 1.66bn Litres of Fuel in April Amid Middle East Tensions
Fresh data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority shows Dangote Petroleum Refinery exported 1.66 billion litres of refined products in April. This includes 513 million litres of petrol, 534 million litres of diesel and 615 million litres of aviation fuel. Experts link the surge to rising demand driven by conflict in the Middle East. The Lekki refinery operated at over 99% capacity, exporting an average of 55.4 million litres per day while still supplying local markets. Nigeria now stands as a net petrol exporter for the first time in decades, boosting energy security and foreign exchange earnings even as domestic fuel prices remain high.
