Wike Slams Fubara’s Choice to Pick APC Nomination Form Despite Tinubu’s Peace Deal
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has broken his silence on Rivers State’s political unrest, mocking Governor Siminalayi Fubara for withdrawing from the 2027 APC governorship race. He revealed a secret pact brokered by President Bola Tinubu, under which Fubara was to drop impeachment threats in return for abandoning his second-term bid. Wike criticized Fubara for collecting the nomination form after that agreement, calling it a breach of political trust and an affront to the president’s peace interventions. He said the governor showed no “gentlemanship” by picking the form first. Speaking during an inspection of Abuja infrastructure projects, the minister praised House of Representatives member Kingsley Chinda as the natural APC candidate. Wike noted Chinda’s experience as a former PDP minority leader and suggested the party’s ticket was his by merit.
