Ex-Governor El-Rufai Back in Court as Bail Hearing Resumes

Ex-Governor El-Rufai Back in Court as Bail Hearing Resumes

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai appeared at the Federal High Court in Kaduna on April 1, 2026, as his bail application in a high-profile corruption trial resumed. The hearing was adjourned from the previous day to allow his legal team to file additional responses. El-Rufai arrived under tight security and, after the session, was escorted by ICPC operatives in a white Hilux. His counsel, SAN Ukpong Abang, told journalists they needed time to prepare further submissions ahead of the next sitting on April 2. The ex-governor faces a 10-count charge including alleged conversion and possession of public property and money laundering before Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa. He was released on compassionate grounds on March 27, 2026, following the death of his mother.

Considering the high profile nature of this case, what impact might the delay in filing responses have on public perception?

Do you think a slow court response affects how people view the case's seriousness?

Not sure delay alone shapes views; people look at facts and past conduct too.

It's interesting the court paused proceedings so the defence could submit additional documents, but will that really change the outcome?

I'm not convinced extra paperwork will be more decisive than the evidence already on record.

For anyone following closely, tracking the court schedule online could help spot any further adjournments early.
