NOUN Begins Nationwide Health Insurance Enrolment for Students

The National Open University of Nigeria has begun implementing the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme for students nationwide. Four additional Health Maintenance Organisations—Healthspring, Noor, Novo and Precious—have been assigned to support the scheme across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. This brings the total number of participating HMOs to eight. Students will be enrolled through their study centres and issued health insurance cards. They will be able to access designated hospitals and healthcare facilities in the states where they live. The university says the programme is intended to make healthcare more affordable and accessible for students during their studies.
