Chained and Blindfolded: Oriire Teachers Describe 50-Day Kidnap Ordeal
The traditional ruler of Ogbomoso led a delegation to meet students and teachers recently freed after more than 50 days in captivity. Their accounts left everyone deeply moved. Victims revealed they endured unimaginable hardship in the bush. Male teachers were kept chained and blindfolded throughout, and one teacher was killed in custody. The monarch gave thanks for the safe release and praised the federal and state governments, the military and all security agencies involved. He credited their efforts with bringing the victims home. He urged Nigerians to continue praying for those still held and prayed that Ogbomosoland remains protected from future attacks.
