Amid Forgery Probe, Uche Nnaji Joins PDP for 2027 Enugu Governorship
Former Minister Uche Nnaji has quietly left the ruling APC and joined the PDP as he sets his sights on the 2027 Enugu governorship. His defection comes despite an ongoing ICPC investigation into alleged forgery of his degree and NYSC certificates. Premium Times investigations revealed that Mr Nnaji submitted forged University of Nigeria and NYSC credentials during his ministerial confirmation. He resigned three days after the exposé and now holds political gatherings with PDP members in Enugu State. A PDP official confirmed his membership in the party but could not say if he has picked nomination forms for the primary. Meanwhile, Mr Nnaji has inaugurated a support group for his 2027 bid and pledged to serve only one four-year term if elected. Legal and academic authorities have disowned his certificates, and a ministerial panel affirmed the forgery. Critics say resignation alone is not enough and are calling for prosecution to deter others.
