Mining Marshals Arrest CSP Abdulmajeed Oyewumi in Escape Plot for Chinese Suspects
The Mining Marshals have arrested CSP Abdulmajeed Abisoye Oyewumi and others for allegedly helping Chinese defendants on trial to flee through the Cameroon border. The suspects face charge FHC/ABJ/CR/131/2025 before Justice M. S. Liman in Abuja. The arrest followed a prosecution request to revoke defendants’ bail and issue bench warrants when counsel failed to justify their repeated absences. Intelligence and a petition revealed police collusion in facilitating the escape of the second and third defendants. Officers found CSP Oyewumi with one defendant and accomplices, including his Chinese girlfriend who is said to have funded his illegal activities, and an immigration officer under investigation. Ammunition, rare minerals and electronic devices were also seized. The suspects have been charged in court, and property linked to the case has been seized to preserve evidence. Investigators are conducting forensic analysis of all exhibits.
