Kidnappers rely on anonymous cash for ransom. By promoting bank transfers, mobile money and digital wallets, we can create digital trails that deter criminal networks. The cash shortages under former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele showed how limiting physical notes made ransom demands harder to execute. A strong digital payment network is more than an economic tool. It is a security asset. When we can follow the money, we can disrupt crime rings and protect innocent lives.
