SportsBiz Africa Golf Championship Set for an Even Bigger Return to Kigali

SportsBiz Africa Golf Championship Set for an Even Bigger Return to Kigali

Kigali will host the second SportsBiz Africa Golf Championship from 10 to 13 September 2026. Organized by SportsBiz Africa, this flagship event is part of the Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing. Last year’s debut drew 105 golfers from 12 countries and was the first Rwandan tournament to award OWGR and WAGR points. Local star Celestin Nsanzuwera clinched the title and elevated Rwanda’s profile in global golf. The 2026 edition promises over 150 professionals and amateurs competing across three days. Players will vie for a USD 25,000 prize purse and valuable ranking points. Organizers say the event will strengthen Africa’s golf ecosystem and showcase Rwanda as a premier sports destination. This tournament underlines SportsBiz Africa’s commitment to driving sustainable development through sport.

Moving from its debut with 105 players to an even bigger return sounds promising, but will the organizers keep improving beyond numbers?

I'm not convinced bigger always means better; more participants could stretch local facilities thin if planning isn't solid.

Local businesses should prepare promo offers around the tournament dates to tap into increased visitor traffic from September 10 to 13.
