Nigeria Shares ₦15.8 Trillion in Fuel Subsidy Savings Across Three Tiers of Government

A reported ₦15.8 trillion in savings from fuel-subsidy removal was shared among the three tiers of government between June 2023 and December 2025. States received ₦6.5 trillion, or 41%. The Federal Government received ₦5.4 trillion, or 34%, while local governments received ₦3.9 trillion, or 24%. Over the same period, the Federal Government reportedly borrowed an additional ₦11.9 trillion and recorded ₦20.4 trillion in incremental resources. Its spending rose by ₦30.64 trillion, including ₦9.39 trillion for wage increases and public-service allowances, while ₦6.5 trillion went to strategic infrastructure.
