INEC Dispatches Sensitive Materials to Ekiti’s 16 LGAs Ahead of Saturday’s Poll
Preparations for Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti gained steam as INEC officials sorted and packaged sensitive materials at the CBN office in Ado Ekiti. Security personnel, including police and NSCDC, maintained a strong presence around the premises to oversee the operation. The sealed packages are now en route to all 16 local government areas for both the governorship vote and the by-elections for the Senate and House of Representatives scheduled for June 20, 2026. The Ekiti Resident Electoral Commissioner described the exercise as hitch-free and assured that all materials would arrive before voting begins. INEC also announced that registered voters in the state have risen to 1,059,360, with Permanent Voter Card collection hitting 97.0 per cent. Replacement PVC requests, per the Electoral Act 2026, saw over 14,000 applications processed. The commission plans to introduce digital voter cards in future elections once infrastructure is in place.
