Tinubu: I Fought for Democracy but Face Abuse on Social Media

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says he is frustrated by the constant abuse he receives online despite his sacrifices in the struggle for democracy. Speaking at a meeting with the APC National Executive Committee in Abuja, he reminded Nigerians that many critics were not part of the fight against military rule. He recalled enduring exile, persecution and harassment after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election. He acknowledged citizens’ right to criticize their leaders under democracy. He urged Nigerians to remember the heavy price paid by pro-democracy activists who restored civilian rule.
