Despite N190bn EFCC Charges, Yahaya Bello Wins APC Senate Ticket in Kogi Central

Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi State, secured the APC senatorial ticket for Kogi Central despite ongoing N190 billion fraud trials by the EFCC. In Monday’s primary, Bello polled 72,349 votes. His closest rival, former Attorney General Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke, scored just 315 votes. The third candidate, Momoh Yusuf Obaro, received 188 votes. Bello led in all five local government areas, with his highest tally of 29,621 votes in Okene. He also scored 18,341 in Adavi, 10,298 in Ajaokuta, 5,146 in Ogori, and 8,943 in Okehi. He faces 16 counts of alleged property fraud worth N110 billion and 19 counts of fraud and money laundering totaling N80.2 billion before the Federal High Court.
