News broke that Nollywood stars Oby Kechere and Solomon Akiyesi both passed away on April 27, 2026. They were classmates in the University of Ibadan’s Theatre Arts Department and close friends. Oby Kechere, fondly known as Ms Koi Koi, rose to fame in the comedy hit Aki Na Ukwa and directed several films after joining Nollywood in 2001. Solomon Akiyesi was also celebrated for his memorable performances on screen. Their vibrant spirits and contributions to Nigerian cinema touched many. As the creative industry grieves, fans remember their talent and the joy they brought to our screens. Rest in peace, Oby and Solomon.
