Fubara Steps Down from APC Governorship Primary to Preserve Peace

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has withdrawn from the APC governorship primary originally set for May 21. In a statement released on May 20, he said the decision follows deep reflection and consultations with family, friends and political associates. He cited the need for peace, stability and unity and pledged to support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate. Fubara hinted at undisclosed pressures surrounding the process, invoking the wisdom of elders and restraint. He thanked the APC leadership and President Bola Tinubu for their support and urged party faithful to remain united.
