Wike Pledges Continued Reconciliation After PDP National Convention

Wike Pledges Continued Reconciliation After PDP National Convention

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has reaffirmed the Peoples Democratic Party’s commitment to reconciling with members who feel aggrieved after the National Convention on March 29 and 30. He dismissed legal challenges from the Turaki-led faction and insisted the PDP’s “wide umbrella” can accommodate all interests. Wike acknowledged that grievances are natural in any large organisation. He said the party will meet with dissenting members, understand their concerns and explore how to bring them on board for the party’s greater good. Speaking after inspecting the Moshood Abiola Stadium velodrome, the convention venue, he confirmed that zoning arrangements are complete. The presidential slot goes to the South, while the national chairmanship is allotted to the North. Accompanied by senior PDP figures, Wike stressed that this consensus-driven approach represents a truly unified front and will ensure a smooth leadership transition.

Is focusing on outreach enough, or are deeper policy disputes driving members away?

Easing tensions by dismissing that Turaki-led faction's legal challenge won't automatically heal those deeper divisions inside the party.

Pledges won't mean much if internal opponents still feel sidelined. Reconciliation needs genuine power-sharing, not just soothing words.

For clearer unity, the PDP could set up regional committees to address specific complaints and track reconciliation progress with transparent reports to members.
