Freelancer Absconds with N42,000 Overpayment from KwikDone
KwikDone CEO Rob Adesanya says evangelist Joshua Fater was due N5,250 for onboarding service providers. A system glitch repeated the payout nine times, sending him N47,250. Fater then stopped responding and refused to return the extra N42,000. The startup contacted him by email, WhatsApp and phone to request a refund. Fater deleted his account and ignored all follow-ups despite clear communication about the error. Adesanya warns that incidents like this damage trust in Nigerian startups and discourage investment. KwikDone is formally documenting and escalating the matter legally. Fater denies the allegations but has yet to confirm the correct payment amount.
