59-Year-Old Blind Man Arrested for Alleged Rape of 10-Year-Old Niece in Minna

The Niger State Police Command has arrested Julius Nyikwa, a 59-year-old blind man from Keteren-Gwari, Minna. He is accused of luring his 10-year-old niece into his room on February 16, 2026, and raping her. Spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the arrest and said this was not the first time the suspect targeted the minor. Neighbours intervened after the victim’s grandmother raised the alarm, leading to his immediate detention. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigations. Nyikwa will soon be charged in court.
