100 Million Streams, Zero Royalties: Ycee Lifts Lid on His Record Deal
Nigerian rapper Ycee says he earned nothing from over 100 million streams while signed to Tiny Entertainment. He revealed the details during an appearance on the Afropolitan Podcast. Under a 70–30 deal, he was told royalties would only kick in after the label recouped its investment. Ycee accepted it at first because they shared a personal bond beyond business. But as he toured the world, played shows and landed endorsements, the arrangement no longer made sense to him. He admits he began to question why he wasn’t paid despite massive streaming numbers.
