Miracle Rescue: Two Children Pulled from Debris of Collapsed Ilorin Building

Miracle Rescue: Two Children Pulled from Debris of Collapsed Ilorin Building — 1 of 5
1 / 5

On Thursday morning, April 9, a two-storey residential building collapsed in the Isale area of Ilorin, Kwara State. Two children, Ahmad (8) and Hussainat (10), were trapped under rubble but were rescued before the fire service arrived and taken to a nearby hospital. Firefighters recovered essential belongings from accessible parts of the structure, including clothes, electronics and documents. The Kwara State Fire Service then recommended that the NSCDC seal off the collapsed building and issued a seven-day evacuation notice to occupants of an adjacent structure deemed unsafe. Caretakers had been warned earlier about visible cracks and weaknesses. CFS Alabi Muhammed, Director of the Fire Service, led the on-site response and urged all property owners to conduct regular structural assessments. He emphasized that early intervention can prevent such disasters and save lives.
