Fayose Refuses APC Role, Then Named REC Board Chairman
Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose once insisted he’d rather stay home than accept an offer from President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Speaking on a national television programme in October 2025, the PDP chieftain said he had no desire to return to public office after two terms. He recalled telling Tinubu, “At 65, I’d rather be at home.” Despite that stance, the Presidency has just announced Fayose as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency. His appointment is one of 26 new board positions across federal agencies.
