Doctor, Birth Attendant and Parents Arrested Over Alleged N2.5m Baby Sale in Lagos

Doctor, Birth Attendant and Parents Arrested Over Alleged N2.5m Baby Sale in Lagos

A 28-year-old mother and her boyfriend allegedly arranged to sell their newborn for N2.5 million. They enlisted a traditional birth attendant and a private hospital doctor who performed a lifesaving Caesarean section in Ikorodu. Shortly after delivery, the baby was handed over to an unidentified buyer inside the hospital. The buyer’s contact details proved false and remains at large. The Lagos State Police have transferred the case to the SCID Anti-Human Trafficking Unit. Conspiracy, child stealing and trafficking charges are under investigation, and the doctor, TBA and parents are in custody awaiting prosecution.
