BRICS Agrees to Expand Disaster Preparedness and Early-Warning Cooperation
BRICS ministers have agreed to deepen cooperation on disaster risk reduction after a meeting held in New Delhi under India’s 2026 chairmanship. The countries discussed climate-resilient infrastructure, improved financing, innovative technology and stronger international collaboration. They also backed the implementation of the BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Work Plan for 2025–2028. Members plan to improve early-warning systems, strengthen infrastructure and community resilience, and expand joint projects, training exercises, expert exchanges and policy consultations to address natural and climate-related hazards.
