FIFA 2026 Travel Rules: Visa Tips for Nigerian Fans
New visa guidelines for football supporters attending the 2026 World Cup in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico have been released. Visitors must hold passports valid for at least six months after their stay, except where exemptions apply. Players, coaches, and officials meeting usual entry requirements no longer need visa bonds. Canadian and Bermudian nationals can enter the U.S. without extra approval, while Visa Waiver Program citizens use the ESTA. Nigerians and other non-waiver countries must apply for a B1/B2 visitor visa. A new FIFA PASS system will help ticket holders secure earlier interview slots. Nigeria’s non-qualification and some existing U.S. restrictions under Presidential Proclamation 10998 may mean fewer special arrangements and stricter scrutiny for its fans. The expanded tournament runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026, with 48 teams playing 104 matches across 16 cities. The final kicks off at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.
