Wike Alleges Fubara Broke Tinubu’s Peace Pact, Vows to Reveal Details
The Rivers State crisis has taken a new turn after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of breaking a peace deal brokered by President Bola Tinubu. Wike says Fubara promised before the President not to pursue a second term in exchange for halting impeachment proceedings. He quoted the governor’s pledge: “I’m ready for peace. I’m no longer interested in contesting for governor.” Addressing supporters in Rivers State, Wike warned that he will soon disclose the full terms of the agreement. He insisted there will be no backing down on measures to end the feud. This escalation follows several presidential interventions aimed at stabilising the oil-rich state. Neither Governor Fubara nor the Presidency has yet responded to Wike’s claims.
