Hidden Agendas: How Nigeria’s Politicians Weaponize Insecurity
I’ve noticed that every presidential election brings renewed debate over insecurity. Politicians use it to discredit rivals and stoke religious and tribal tensions. Yet sponsors of past terror often end up in power, repeating the cycle. The masses bear the cost. Many voted out of hatred and fail to consider future implications. Those who politicize terror fuel its growth, while ordinary Nigerians suffer. Worse still, foreign powers and corrupt officials exploit insurgency to tap mineral resources illegally. Militias thrive in resource-rich areas, backed by superpowers and complicit politicians. Until insecurity is addressed beyond politics, it will continue to plague the nation.
