Army Clears Bandit Camps in Bauchi, Rescues Eight Hostages and Seizes Arms
Troops under Operation WUTAN DAJI have cleared multiple bandit camps in Kumbodoro Forest and Kumbodoro Village, Bauchi State. The offensive delivered a major setback to criminal networks operating in the area. Soldiers from the 33 Artillery Brigade, alongside the National Security Adviser’s team and Air Component support, neutralised several bandits. The operation, led by Brig.-Gen. S.S. Shehu, freed eight kidnapped victims and dismantled notorious enclaves including the Azuge camps. A thorough search of the sites recovered rifles, ammunition, communication equipment, security agency uniforms and other items. In a related raid at Duguri, troops working with local vigilantes recovered 36 cows abandoned by fleeing bandits. Efforts are now focused on returning the livestock to their owners. The Nigerian Army remains committed to restoring peace and stability through intelligence-driven, joint-force operations.
