From Site Labourer to Estate Consultant: My Journey
After secondary school, I was determined to pursue higher education but lacked the funds to buy my JAMB form. To raise money, I worked on construction sites carrying blocks and mixing cement for ₦600 per day. Even after gaining admission to Olabisi Onabanjo University, I returned to site work to earn extra cash beyond what my father provided. Those early experiences built my resilience and prepared me for the property world. Today, while inspecting one of our estates in the Mowe-Ofada axis, I asked for a shovel so I could join the labourers. They were surprised. I shared how I once did the same work to support my dreams. I encouraged them to keep working hard and never give up. Ti a ò bá rí ẹni gbẹ́kẹ̀lé, a tẹ́ra mọ́ iṣẹ́ ẹni. (If you don’t have someone to rely on, rely on your own effort.) I am proudly an Estate Consultant. I am Ayoola Akinwunmi.
