Wike Warns Clerics Against Partisan Politics
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has urged religious leaders to avoid partisan political involvement, warning that it can weaken the credibility of their interventions on national issues. Speaking during his monthly media chat, Wike responded to comments by Cardinal John Onaiyekan about President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He said governments should accept constructive criticism, but critics should also recognise areas of progress. According to Wike, clerics seen as consistently backing or opposing a political camp risk having their views dismissed as partisan rather than objective guidance.
