University of Texas Student Arrested After Allegedly Killing Parents and Grandmother

A 19-year-old student at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley has been charged with shooting his father, mother and grandmother dead in their home. Authorities say the teenager opened fire on his family and fled the scene before police arrived. Officers found two bodies at the house, and the third victim died at hospital despite treatment. The suspect then led police on a high-speed chase that injured two bystanders when his car collided with theirs. Police recovered a handgun in the student’s vehicle and charged him with capital murder and attempted murder. No motive has been disclosed, and investigators say the suspect’s statements have been inconsistent. The university has pledged full cooperation with law enforcement.
