Gunmen Kidnap Sapele LGA Chairman, Shoot Vigilante Member
Chief Bright Abeke, Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area in Delta State, was abducted by unknown gunmen on Friday night around 7:25 pm at his hotel on Owumi Road. The attackers arrived in a Range Rover SUV and opened fire to scatter onlookers. A member of a local vigilante group, identified as Ufuoma, was shot during the incident and rushed to a nearby hospital. Delta State police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed to Punch that the command has launched operations to secure the chairman’s safe release. The Commissioner of Police has ordered the special anti-kidnapping unit to deploy all necessary resources and arrest the suspects.
