New Jersey Family Disputes Organ Donation After Man Dies From Cardiac Arrest
A 47-year-old New Jersey man, Keith Lott, reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at home on May 16 while having sex with his wife. She performed CPR before emergency responders took him to hospital, where he was later declared brain-dead. His family said an organ-procurement organisation later sought to recover his organs. Relatives maintained that Lott had removed himself from the state organ-donor registry in 2025 after converting to Islam and had clearly stated that he did not want to donate. The family opposed the organ recovery and said the dispute delayed his funeral and burial plans. A New Jersey state senator's office reportedly intervened to help resolve the matter.
