Nigerian Army Launches Inquiry into Alleged Assault on UNIOSUN Students
The Nigerian Army has ordered a full investigation after reports that newly recruited soldiers from the Osogbo Depot allegedly attacked students at the Osun State University, Osogbo campus, on Monday night. Major Yahaya Ibrahim, the depot spokesperson, said the Commandant has directed a probe to establish the facts. The Army has asked the National Association of Nigerian Students (Southwest Zone) to submit all evidence and witness statements. Students claim the recruits invaded their hostels, assaulted male students, molested female students and stole phones and other valuables. The Vice-Chancellor condemned the alleged misconduct and urged military authorities to hold any guilty personnel accountable. NANS has called on President Tinubu and the Chief of Army Staff to ensure justice. The Army vows that anyone found guilty will face the full weight of military law.
