Introducing the Nigerian Institutions API: One-Stop School Data for Developers

Hello everyone, I recently launched the Nigerian Institutions API to give developers, students, and startups easy access to structured data on Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Key features include clean, searchable records; filters by type (federal, state, private); name-based search; pagination; secure API key access; OAuth login options; and comprehensive documentation. Built with a Go backend, data scraped from official sources, and stored in PostgreSQL, this REST API can power school search platforms, EdTech products, admission tools, education analytics, and more. I welcome your feedback and contributions!

What additional filters or integration features would make this API more useful in your development projects?

True, having location and accreditation filters would simplify lookups. Plus real-time webhooks for updates would make integrations smoother.

I think extra filters might overcomplicate things—maybe focus on clear docs and reliable updates first.

I notice the description mentions searchable records, but it's unclear how often the data updates. Versioning details matter here.

Is it really addressing the needs of smaller communities or is this just benefiting major institutions with better datasets?

Consider caching frequent queries locally to reduce API calls and improve response times, especially when filtering by multiple institution types.
