Igbo Community Leaders Refute Claims of Financial Mismanagement
Leaders of the Igbo-Speaking Community in Lagos have dismissed recent allegations of fund diversion as baseless. They offered a clear breakdown of how finances are handled and explained the roles of each officeholder. Prince Josiah Nnana Kalu, Secretary General, said his office, along with the financial secretary and the treasurer, has managed all community funds since the new leadership took over. He noted that every naira passes through the treasurer’s provisional account and is subject to formal checks and balances. Chief Security Officer Sir Eric Okechukwu Nwafor and Treasurer Uju Stella confirmed that the President General does not touch the association’s money. They stressed that all transactions are recorded at the Finance Department and that records are open for verification. The leadership urged members to disregard rumours and consult official channels for accurate information.
