South-East Governors Pursue Political Solution for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release, Umahi Says
Senator David Umahi says South-East leaders are exploring political avenues to secure the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu while preserving peace in the region. He clarified that Ebonyi State is not aligned with the Obedient Movement and reaffirmed the South-East’s support for President Bola Tinubu during an inspection of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway in Epe. Umahi criticised reports that former Anambra governor Peter Obi would halt major infrastructure projects if elected, calling such a position “painful” and unlikely to gain popular approval. He also faulted Obi for not speaking out against the Monday sit-at-home order and other security challenges affecting the South-East. He challenged the Obedient Movement to compare Tinubu’s track record as Lagos governor with Obi’s achievements in Anambra, and praised the coastal highway as evidence of Tinubu’s vision for national development.
