First Nigerian Female Neurosurgeon Moves to US, Highlights Healthcare Brain Drain
Nigeria’s first female neurosurgeon, Dr. Salamat Ahuoiza Aliu, has left her role as Senior Consultant at University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital to retrain and now serves as a pediatric resident in Missouri. With government funds still channeled into foreign medical care for officials, the local system struggles to develop. Until we invest in and retain our skilled professionals, this pattern of brain drain will continue.
