New Book Unpacks Leadership Reforms of the Buratai Era
A new study examines the reforms introduced in the Nigerian Army during Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai’s tenure as Chief of Army Staff from 2015 to 2021. Titled Military Transformational Leadership in Action: The Buratai Era and published by Sprezzatura Publishing Ltd, the book explores shifts in doctrine, training, logistics and civil-military relations. It draws on military records, policy documents and interviews to assess how the army adapted to asymmetric threats from Boko Haram, ISWAP and widespread banditry. The author highlights this period as a case study in crisis leadership, illustrating lessons in morale, institution-building and public trust. A formal presentation and academic discourse will take place on 16 September 2026 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
