2027 Showdown in Anambra: Soludo’s Plan to Curb Obi’s Landslide

Soludo and Obi represent two strong forces in Anambra politics. In 2023, Obi captured about 95% of the state’s presidential vote. But local elections rely on party structure and grassroots support. In 2025, Soludo won all 21 LGAs with 422,664 votes. Obi’s Labour Party candidate managed only 10,576, even losing in Obi’s own polling unit and home LGA. Soludo has signalled his willingness to back Tinubu in 2027. If he deploys his machinery again, he may not defeat Obi outright. Instead, he can transform Anambra from an uncontested landslide into a competitive battlefield.

Local campaigns should prioritize community town halls and targeted outreach to underrepresented wards, building on lessons from Soludo's 2025 success.
